There are many evidences showing that in the past there were 700 Jain temples and Pausadhashalas. this was a prosperous city inhabited by six lakh Jains. From every family a gold mohur and a brick were given to a man who newly came to settle here. People of those days had such noble feelings towards co-religionists.
