Shri Modhera Tirth

Mulnayak: 45 cms. high, white - colored idol of Chintamani Parshvanath in the Padmasana posture.

Tirth: It is in the central place of the Modhera Village.

Historicity: It seems that this temple belongs to the times earlier than the ninth century of the Vikram era. While describing this temple, Jinaprabhasurisvarji said that Bappabhattacharyaji used to come by air route to pilgrimage this place. This is the original place of the Modhera gachchha. Kalikalasarvajna Hemachandrcharya belonged to the Modhera family and this is his birth place. Mahatma Gandhi also belonged to the Modh caste and this is the birth place of his ancestors.

Other Temples: At present there is no other temple.

Works of art and Sculpture: Since this is an ancient and historical place, historical remains of art are found here. The large sun temple of Modhera is famous all over the world for Indian architecture.

Guidelines: Becharaji is the railway station nearby. It is at a distance of 16 kilometers. Buses and taxis are available means of conveyance. Chansama is at a distance of 25 kilometers and Rantej is at a distance of 16 kilometers. There is a public hospital. There is also a bhojanalaya.
