Shri Idar Tirth

Mulnayak: Nearly 68 cms. high, white colored idol of Bhagawan Shantinath in the Padmasana posture.

Tirth: It is at a distance of one kilometer from the Idar village and one and a half kilometers from the foot of the hill. It is among hills

Historicity: King Samprati built the temple on the fort and got the idol of Bhagawan Shantinath formally installed there. There are 52 idols. King Kumarpal renovated the temple and got the idol of Bhagawan Adishvar installed there. In course of time, the temple, it is supposed, had underwent renovations. The final renovation was accomplished in 1970 by Achayra Labdhasurishvarji. The work done for restoring prosperity to this sacred place is noteworthy. The history of the village Idar is also very ancient. Being the birthplace of great Acharyas and charitable Shrvakas, this sacred place has a special significance. Many Acharyas wrote here many scriptures.

Other Temples: Besides this, there is a Digambara temple on the hill. In the village of Idar, there are five other Svetambar temples and three Digambar temples. On the Ghantio hill at a distance of two kilometers, Shrimad Rajchandra practised spiritual exercises and attained knowledge.On this hill there is a temple in which the chief idol is of Munisuvrat Swami. On this hill, there is a study centre of Shrimad Rajchandra.

Works of art and Sculpture: This temple on the hill is very fascinating and beautiful. The idol is very ancient and beautiful. There are 600 steps for climbing the hill. The king’s palace is there on the way. This fort is known an the Idario fort. Every year on the fifteenth day of the bright half of the months of Kartak and Chaitra, a fair is held here.

Guidelines: The foot of the Idar hill is at a distance of one kilometer from the Idar railway station on the Ahmedabad-Khedbrahma road. Bus service and private vehicles are easily available here. There are boarding and lodging provisions. Wooden articles of Idar are famous.
